ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN
General Assembly | Digital Transformation of ECLAC | Single Delegate
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) was founded in 1948 and is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations. Its main objective is to contribute to the economic development of Latin America and the Caribbean and to strengthen economic ties between member countries and the rest of the globe. As a delegate in this committee, your responsibility will be to continue the work being done to promote digital transformation in this region. For instance, in early 2024, ECLAC launched the Digital Development Observatory (DDO) to drive this digital transformation, ensuring that development in Latin America becomes more sustainable and inclusive. There is still much work to be done. A large percentage of businesses in this region do not have an online presence, and internet and broadband connectivity issues persist, along with other structural issues that hinder Latin American nations from effectively adopting digital technologies. Are you ready to help lead Latin America and the Caribbean into a more digitally developed and connected future?
